Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas popularly known by the name Ashanti was born October 13 1980 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is a singer songwriter and actress of in the United States. Ashanti was discovered as an teen and became signed to Murder Inc. Records in 2002. That same year, she was included on Fat Joe's What's Luv? Also, she was featured in Fat Joe's track"What's Luv!" and the Ja Rules' track Never On Time, both of which have been hugely successful. It was the first time for a female artist to have the first and second spots within the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at the top spot and What's Luv? in second position. She starred in the film Christmas in the City and played Latasha the character Montclair from Army Wives. The song she sang Rock wit U was sampled by British artist Aitch to record his song Baby on the 10th of March 2022.
