Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who has achieved great popularity with her stories she recounts about her early heartbreak. Taking her inspiration from musicians from the country genre like Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original material that reflected her experiences of being a tween and feeling alienated. Swift's parents moved her from Pennsylvania to Tennessee at the age of 13 when they decided to sell their Pennsylvania farm. It enabled Swift to devote more time courting labels for the country genre in Nashville.
